College of science has one science experimental class and 7 disciplines: mathematics and applied mathematics, information and computational science, applied physics, photoelectrical information science and technology, material physics, material chemistry and chemistry. The applied physics is national characteristic program and material physics is provincial characteristic program. The programs are introduced below.


Information and computational science

The program is insisted to educate creative students based on excellent mathematical foundation and thinking abilities, to allow the students master the theories, methodologies and skills of information science and computational science, to be able to solve information technologies, science and engineering related problems. This program has two major directions which are computational science and information science. The graduates are able to carry out their careers in information science, computational science or other related areas for research, teaching, application r&d and managements.

Mathematics and applied mathematics

This discipline is insisted to educate creative talents based on excellent fundamental mathematic theories and methods, abilities to solve real computer problems based on the mathematic knowledge learnt, and preliminary practical skills for scientific research. The graduates are able to carry out their careers in mathematics, applied mathematics and other related areas for teaching, research, application and managements.

Applied physics

This discipline is insisted to educate creative and practical talents based on excellent scientific theories, methods and skills. This discipline has three professional directions: method and technology for nuclear physics, method and technology for physical analysis (nondestructive analysis) and physical methods and technology for oil and gas reservoir. The graduates are able to carry out their careers in nuclear physics, nondestructive testing, oil exploration and other related areas for teaching, research, application and managements.

Photoelectrical information science and engineering

This discipline is insisted to educate practical engineering talents based on excellent knowledge of photoelectrical science and engineering and solid skills. This discipline has to major directions: photoelectrical system and engineering and photoelectrical materials and devices. The graduates are able to carry out their careers in photoelectrical equipment, photoelectrical technology, optical communication technology, photoelectrical materials and devices, new energy technology, LED lighting and other related areas for teaching, research, application and managements.

This discipline is insisted to educate comprehensive talents with modern material science fundamental theories and techniques based on excellent knowledge of physics and outstanding thinking and skills for material exploration, preparation and synthesis. This discipline has two major directions: material corrosion and protection and new energy materials. The graduates are able to carry out their careers in petroleum, shipbuilding, mining machinery, electrician and new energy related companies, enterprises and research institutions, and other related areas for development, research, production, education and management for material anti-corrosion, oil & gas storage and transportation, analysis, safety monitoring and new energy materials.

Material chemistry

This discipline is insisted to educate professional talents with material production, modification, structure and performance testing knowledge and skills based on solid fundamental knowledge and practical skills of material synthesis, systemic knowledge of material science and chemistry. This discipline has 2 major directions: macromolecular materials and new energy materials. The graduates are able to carry out their careers in companies and research institutions related to petroleum, oil and gas field chemistry, plastics & Rubbers, fibers, painting & coating for product R&D, manufacturing, production quality control, engineering design, technical management and educations.

Science experimental class

Since 2012, the university established the science experimental class in order to improve the fundamental knowledge of science and enhance continues development for the science and engineering students. This class is insisted to cultrate advanced talents with solid foundation, large development potential, comprehensive knowledge and creativity. The students were selected from excellent new science and engineering students. The experimental class carried out with “2+2”model, an education model that despite professions in the first two years in order to improve the fundamental knowledge and skills for science and mathematics, as well as English and computer applications. After two years fundamental knowledge training, the students can be able to choose professions based availabilities of the chosen profession. The science experimental class is an independent class and educated by high-leveled tutors, it also carries out reformation attempts of teaching. Meanwhile, the college arranges professors to be the students’ personal tutors, and work out personalized development plans, to lead the students towards academic palace, and allow the student to set up their research abilities rapidly.
