The college has excellent research environment and research abilities. The college initiated young-teacher cultivate plan, arranged one research tutor for each young-teacher, meanwhile, the college also launched young scientists research forum, took one step toward for promoting research environment. The college insists communication activities, successively invited Yao Jianquan, the CAS fellow, Fu Laiming, fellow of The royal Danish academy of sciences and Qian Yitai, the CAS fellow to come to the college for interchange. The college undertook more than 330 research projects, including more than 100 first affiliation projects. Among the projects, there were 52 NSFC funding and 31 SDNSF funding. The funding grants reach more than 47,000,000 RMB. The college academic staff published more than 600 research papers as first author, including 250 SCI and EI indexed publications, 13 zone one papers and 49 zone two papers based on the publication level partition by JCR and obtained 19 patents. The college has 4 provincial prizes winners, including one meritorious and one second prize winners for natural science of Shandong, one second prize winner for the progress of science and technology from Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and one third-prize for technology invention from petroleum and chemical union. There are also a large number of civic and university level prize winners. The college possesses one provincial key laboratory and 4 university level research centers.
The college has comprehensive experimental facilities. Currently we have two provincial teaching and experimental demonstration center – Shandong teaching and experimental demonstration center for physics and Shandong teaching and experimental demonstration center for chemistry, with 51 professional laboratories. The laboratory for new energy physics and material science was elected for key laboratory of higher educations in Shandong. The college possesses approx. 10,700 m2 structural areas for teaching and research, with 8750 m2 in use. Values for instruments and equipment reaches 38,000,000 RMB and the college offers more than 700 PCs for teaching and research proposes.
